3rd Audition Callback: Some Thoughts

I thought that the audition went well last night. I have no idea whether or not I got the part but I’m learning that whether or not you get the part is really not the point. It’s about putting yourself out there consistently and learning what you can from each new experience.

It was quite an interesting process. I read the scene I’d prepared (from the sides they’d sent me) and was asked to hang around to read for the other directors for two other shows they’re putting on. (One was a cold read of a Shakespeare monologue… interesting choice…. the other was a 3 page two person scene). That part is standard. What was unusual was the way we read for the other two shows. They had us all in the room together reading for the two directors. We got to see and hear the other actors doing the scene we had to audition with over and over again. It was a bit distracting but also interesting to get to see other actors work.

I’m more and more grateful for the training I’ve received and know that I really do have something special to put out there. I want to continue to hone the skills I’ve acquired and become a better actor. Every time I audition is another chance to work out my technique put into practice the things I’ve been taught.

We’ll see how it goes!
